EACH STUDENT IS EXPECTED TO:

Respect the teacher and other students at all times.

Be in his or her seat and prepared to start class by the time the late bell rings.

Change seats at the beginning of each month. The student in the last seat of each row should move to the first seat and all other students should move back one seat. (Everyone will have the opportunity to enjoy front-row seating for a whole month!)

Bring his or her textbook to class everyday.

Be prepared to take a scheduled quiz even when he or she was absent for the previous Government class. (If a student misses more than one class prior to a quiz, a make-up will be scheduled at the request of the student. Anytime a student has a one-day excused absence before a major test, he or she will have the option of taking a make-up.)

Complete homework assignments and bring the completed work to class.

Avoid disrupting class by getting up, throwing away trash, or sharpening pencils.

Get water and use restrooms in the 5 minutes between classes.

Be attentive and avoid putting his or her head down to rest on the desk.

Make up quizzes and tests promptly after absences. Make-up quizzes/tests may be taken after school at 3:00 on Wednesdays, room 208. Make-ups may also be taken on a free period or in a study hall if prearranged.

Always bring a number 2 pencil to class on test days for Scantron answer sheets

THE TEACHER AGREES TO:

Respect all students and to treat them impartially.

Grade all quizzes, tests, and homework quizzes within one week.

Be prepared for class everyday.

Enjoy teaching her students.

Provide a unit outline and schedule of assignments for each test section.

Be flexible when students are overburdened with multiple tests, quizzes, and/or assignments.

Be available to answer questions and assist in any way I can on Tuesdays until 3:30. (Please feel free to come by any time that I am not in class to ask questions and set up appointments!) My office is in 215A. If I am not there on Tuesdays, I may be in room 203 with make-up tests.

GRADING POLICY:

Each quarter, there will be:

5 to 8 homework grades, the lowest of which will be dropped at the end of each quarter. Homework will be randomly collected. Sometimes answers will be checked for correctness and thoroughness. Some homework checks will just involve seeing what percentage of the work is done. Homework grades will range from one to ten. At the end of each quarter, a zero will be added to each homework grade. For example, 1 would become 10; 10 would become 100. The average of homework grades (plus bonus participation points) counts 10% of the quarter grade.

3 to 5 quizzes which will be announced on the unit syllabus. The lowest grade of the quarter will be dropped. The quiz average counts 20% of the quarter grade.

3 tests, each counting equally. The test average counts 70%.

Any student who has a passing average and who takes the AP exam does not have to take a BEHS final exam.
